A ritual is a decision you already made
Every trade requires roughly a dozen decisions: direction, level, entry, stop, target, size, timing, whether to take it at all.
You can make them in real time, with money moving against you and a candle closing in forty seconds. Or you can make most of them beforehand, calmly, and reduce the live decision to a single yes or no.
That is what a pre-trade ritual is. Not superstition, not a mood-setting exercise — a mechanism for moving decisions out of the conditions in which people decide badly.
Why the timing of a decision changes its quality
The same person, given the same information, decides differently under time pressure with capital at risk. Attention narrows, and comparison — *is this better than the alternatives?* — is the first thing to go.
A decision made at 07:00 with no position open is made by a different version of you than one made at 14:32 with 40 pips of open loss. The ritual's job is to let the 07:00 version make as many decisions as possible.
